Product Description
Kaima rice, also known as Wayanadan Kaima or Jeerakasala rice, is a traditional short-grain variety predominantly grown in the Wayanad region of Kerala, India. Renowned for its aromatic fragrance and delicate texture, Kaima rice is a key ingredient in many regional dishes, particularly in the preparation of the famous Malabar biryani. Unlike long-grain basmati rice, Kaima rice has shorter, plumper grains that absorb flavors exceptionally well, making it ideal for richly spiced dishes.
When cooked, Kaima rice has a slightly sticky texture, which helps to bind the flavors together in biryani or pilaf. In addition to its culinary uses, Kaima rice is also valued for its nutritional benefits, including being rich in vitamins and minerals. Its unique aroma, taste, and ability to complement a variety of spices make Kaima rice a cherished choice in South Indian and particularly Malabar cuisine.
